Guess what? If you are in home health you are driving around, go figure :) The good thing is the IRS allows you to deduct either the IRS standard mileage rate for each business mile driven ($0.70 for 2025) or a percentage of the actual vehicle expenses. So if you used your car 70% of time to see patients you can deduct 70% of those miles or expenses. (IRS Mileage Publication)
15,000 miles * .70 = $7,350
Total: $7350
Pro Tip: Did you know if you have a home office the mileage to your first patient is not considered commuting, so you can still deduct it? Take a look at our previous post on Home Office Deduction HERE
